Who

Because we all depend on forests and their resources, the center will be designed to benefit everyone! With some 253 schools within a 50-mile radius, the center will strive to provide sustainable and urban forestry experiences and activities for school children of all ages. The center will house a variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits and programming to help area children experience a true forest and discover its importance.

Partnership with the LEAF (Learning, Experiences, and Activities in Forestry – K-12 Forestry Curriculum) program will allow the center to teach science, history, math, and social studies through rural and urban forestry. There is also a strong link with jobs and the recruitment of young people into forestry professions and skilled forestry jobs available in the Milwaukee area and throughout the state.

The center will also bring in parents, grandparents, residents, and visitors to the area and show them the beauty and wonder of forests in Wisconsin. Throughout the planning residents from the local community will be encouraged to share their ideas and voice their opinions on the development of the site and how it can best serve the community.
